Maastricht City Library offers many services for students, helping you focus on your studies by providing you with a productive place to study on your own, or in a group as well as offering access to a broad range of materials when it’s time to relax.
Study areas
We have study areas and workspaces all around our library.
- Lower ground floor offers open study desks and also music study rooms for hire with the 'Muziekpas" for members of our library.
- Ground floor features the great staircase, where you can relax and take in the latest exhibition in the Hal, Binnenvitrine or Galerij, enjoy a coffee and meet with friends.
- First floor houses the Lees Café with free access to newspapers and magazines, as well as the Coffeelovers café, where you are welcome to eat and drink at your leisure. Bring your device, hook up to the free WiFi and power sockets and you can easily work through lunch.
- Third floor offers open study desks, computer workspaces and printing and photocopy facilities.
- Fourth floor has open study desks, computer workspaces and communal tables for larger groups.
Data banks

- Click on the database of your choice (use the emboldened link where necessary).
- Type the search term in the field and click on the magnifying glass.
- On your screen is information and an image of the library pass – click on “nee”.
- Type your Maastricht City Library pass number (starts with 2431…) and password (usually your date and month of birth “ddmm” unless you have changed it online).
- Accept the terms and conditions (“voorwaarden”) and your search results will appear.
